My main research interest relates to the political economy of aid. Particularly the way in which donors use their aid to lever for (governance) change, and how these endeavours coincide or collide with diverging interests on both the donor and the recipient side lies at the heart of my research. - As such I am interested in Aid and Political Conditionalities, Aid and Domestic Accountability (recipient & donor country), use and shifts in aid modalities (Budget Support, Basket Funding...). - Also of interest is the topic of NGOs and autonomy, Aid dependence, Aid fragmentation, Co-funding (reforms), NGOPartnerships. - Finally, I want to focus in the future on the funding of other domestic accountability actors such as political parties and parliament.
