Tom Pauwels graduated as a doctor in Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp in 2007. He is academic researcher at the Department of Transport and Regional Economics (University of Antwerp). Main focus of the research of the last years was on the macro-economic modelling of hinterland freight transport (e.g. analysis of mode choice). He has been involved in the development of the transport models MOBILEC-BENELUX and the new freight model for Flanders (in cooperation with the Flemish Traffic Center and MINT). Within the department Tom Pauwels is also responsible for the data management. He recently participated in projects related to activities at Brussels Airport.
